The highlight of training in 2015 was certainly the chance to join the Rheeboot training camp on September 27th & 28th. This was the first opportunity for members from Adelaide and Sunraysia to come together, form relationships, enjoy camaraderie, and most of all – learn in a great environment, all about our great Art of Rhee Taekwon-do!

Two buses from Mildura and one from Adelaide departed Saturday morning for the drive to Camp Kedron at Barmera. On arrival bedrooms and beds were sorted before morning tea, and a welcome and group meeting was held in the common room. Following the meeting, a group training session was held on the grass, and the regions young leaders conducted a great training to set the precedent of what was to follow for the next two days!

After lunch, twelve groups of members were formed for an afternoon of specialised clinics – 30 minute sessions of intense physical training, patterns practice, knife defence, strength & balance, boxing practice were just some examples of these clinics, all conducted by the regions leaders. Mid afternoon saw a short break for a much needed replenishment of fuel, afternoon tea was a welcome break to proceedings, and an opportunity for members to talk and learn a bit more about each other. But, not for long, the second round of clinics filled in the remainder of the afternoon completing 4 hours of intense and focussed training. Another short break allowed members to rest and restore some energy before enjoying the final all in group session for one more hour before dinner!

Dinner was pre-prepared by some of our dedicated leaders, and finally brought together by our great volunteer parents for the weekend, who did an amazing job for all our members – a special thank you to Dave and Marg Bell from Sunraysia, and also to Ravi and Harsha Sapdahare from Adelaide. Spaghetti bolognese was just the boost of carbs we needed to replenish our energy stores to prepare for the following day, the dining room was well prepared and all members enjoyed sharing time over our meal, and even had the opportunity to ask questions of Chong Kwan Jang Nim Aaron, and find out a little more of the history and foundations of Rhee Taekwon-do.
