What should I look for in a club / instructor?
Look for foundation, a martial art that has history, and a very good reputation. The instructors should be appointed by the Master and the organisation, with accreditation, Working with children and police checks.
What’s with all of the bowing?
A traditional style martial art has large emphasis on courtesy and respect – for yourself, your instructors/leaders and the Art. Bowing is how we show this respect and courtesy. You should think of it as saying ‘hello’ and ‘thankyou’.
Do I have to compete?
No, in fact training in a traditional style martial art such as Rhee Taekwon-do means there is no competition at all. Concentration in training is on improving your self physically and mentally, through disciplined technique, focused training, and perseverance.
