FAQ – Questions About Rhee Taekwon-do
Is this mainly kicking, like I see in the Olympics?
The Olympic style Taekwon-do is what we consider ‘sport’ style training, this is very different from the way we train in Rhee Taekwon-do! We do concentrate on quite a lot of kicking techniques, for these are the most devastating techniques we learn in self defence. However, there are a lot of techniques to learn in the Rhee Taekwon-do arsenal including arms, legs, hands, elbows, knees…used in defence and attacking techniques.

Is there a yearly membership fee?
Yes, and it is only $60.00
How much does the uniform cost?
The Dobok, while not immediately necessary, is available when you are ready to commit yourself to the Art, and it certainly makes you feel like part of our family! The Dobok costs $85.
How often can I get graded?
There are several ‘opportunities’ to be promoted throughout the year, provided you are showing improvement and learning well the next grades are easily achievable. There are upto 20 opportunities for promotion during the training year!
What if I’ve done martial arts before?
Anyone can learn and enjoy Rhee Taekwon-do, but if you truly want to learn what we have to offer, you should come with an empty cup, ready to fill it with Rhee Taekwon-do techniques and discipline. While training in Rhee Taekwon-do you cannot continue to learn from other styles simultaneously, and our World Master Rhee expects everyone to begin training – as a beginner = white belt.
